Who can ride these machines - is there a min or max age?
Yes, MiniGP Academy can provide multiple options of MiniGP motorcycles for hire. We have a selection of 110cc electric start, automatic clutch machines. These are suited to brand new riders with no motorcycle experience. We then have 160cc Manual machines with hand operated clutch. These are for junior with motorcycle and clutch experience. We also have all the required Junior riding gear, road riding rated helmets, Gloves, Boots and One piece race leather suits.
Cancellation and refund can be given if notice is received with at least 48 hours before the start time, and rescheduling only is permitted for up to 24 hours before the start time. All riders will receive an email reminder of the event 24 hours (provided the rider agrees to be reminded) before the event. Any cancellations/rescheduling within 24 hours before an event may not be eligible for rescheduling/refund.

Motocross gear is suitable and safe for dirt based events. Road riding gear (specifically Helmets and Armoured Leathers) are tested to a CE standard. Therefore we can only allow Road certified helmets and leathers to be worn by our riders. As this is a Health and safety requirement we are unable to make allowances in this area. Fortunately we have everything that is required for hire.
We specialise in junior and novice riders - MiniGP riders from the age of 6 are allowed to participate in "Have a go", Trackdays and MiniGP Academy training sessions. All individuals under the age of 13 will be required to be assessed during a "Have a go" session to ensure they are safe to ride on track with others. NZ has a MiniGP race series that details exact qualifications and requirements. The Minimum age to compete is 7 years old.
ADULTS - Yes, HEAPS of NZ Superbike racers use MiniGP Machines as training tool. They are a cost effective way to keep their riding skills up with 100s of laps costing a fraction of running a 1000cc race machine.

Do MiniGP machines race?
YES! a summer series was run in 2025, 2026 dates are being planned currently. It will consist of at least 5 rounds. MiniGP Academy NZ we be involved at each round. We will offer hire bikes and protective gear.
