Costs
The 2026 series is a go!
Junior 15years or below round fee:
$250 per round
Seniors 16years and above round fee:
$300 per round
Price does not include bike hire or transponder hire
We are working out a series early bird deal - aka if you book and pay for the whole series there will be a discount!

Timing and Transponder options for those in competition classes
To have your times processed formally a Karting TR2 transponder is needed at each round.
We have obtained a source that provides Transponder Hire cost at a cost of $40 per round - These are needed at the Wellington GP also.
Transponder bracket MUST HAVE! For sale for $35 then you own it.
You can provide your own Transponder and bracket, please provide transponder info when you register
We have to hire all this equipment and have a dedicated timing person run this complex system. This cost is unavoidable this year, so therefore it is one that is simply being recovered.
MiniGP Academy NZ Saturdays
MiniGP Academy NZ will be running its formal training academy each Saturday Morning! This enables us to continue to develop riders and assess racers each weekend if they are making that big step into competition.
We are looking to have "MiniGP Test and Tune" slots Saturday morning when trainees are not riding - this is for racers who need additional time to run in machines etc.
This means racers can have a relaxed travel morning for each round if they do not wish to attend morning riding, and reduce accomodation costs.
Saturday afternoon we will conduct unofficial practice for MiniGP Series racers - this session is INCLUDED in your Racing entry fee. This will be conducted from 1:30pm - 4:30pm each Saturday.

Sunday Raceday
Sunday will be our dedicated race day!
The day is planned to run as follows:

Official Warm up, one short session with some combined classes - this is a shakedown for bike and rider

Official Qualifying, one session per class, classes separated as per race classes. Non comp have 2nd Warm up.

Can you ride all Saturday and Sunday TOTALLY! Please know Formal training will require seperate registration and costs.

MiniGP Series classes are as follows:
1. Non competition - for those new or younger than 7 years
2. 110cc Auto 7-10 years*
3. 160 Junior 11-15 years*
4. 160 Senior 16+ years*
5. 190 Senior 16+ years*
6. SS150 NZSBK aligned 11-18*years
Age ranges are recommendations - MiniGP Academy NZ has final approval of competitor entry which will be based on skill and experience.
Packages including bike sharing options, hire gear and mechanical support available.
Race Numbers
The Road Race Trust requires racers to register the number they wish to run for the series. If you plan on sharing machines that is fine and long as the number is register in each class for the individual riders.

Numbers 1,2,3 cannot be requested as they are reserved for previous years place getters!
What is MiniGP?
MiniGP bikes are purpose built road based machines built for juniors to hone their riding skills.
They have wheels that are either 10 or 12 inches in diameter and have engines that are either 110cc,160cc or 190cc.
The bikes predominantly ride and compete on outdoor Karting tracks. Here is a clip of a MiniGP race at Tokoroa in the Waikato.
